Your WordPress, your theme and every plugin kept up to date — tested on a copy of your site first, so you find out it worked rather than finding out it didn't. Updates run regularly, and you can ask for one at any time. £19.99 a month. We don't need to host your site.
£19.99 a month. No minimum term, cancel any time — on any WordPress site, whether we host it or not.
You know the little number in your WordPress dashboard. Four updates waiting. Then eleven. Then thirty-one. You mean to get to it, and then a customer rings.
Nothing happens for months. Then everything happens at once. An out-of-date plugin is one of the most common ways a small-business website gets broken into, and the repair is never the expensive part. Our own emergency callout is £95, and that only gets you back online. The enquiries you never hear about — because for two days your site showed a white screen, or Google showed a warning next to your name — cost a great deal more than that.
Here is the thing: updating a WordPress site is not difficult work. It is just work that has to keep happening, done by someone who then opens the site and checks it still does its job. That is the whole product. We already do it for the sites we host, so extending it to sites we don’t host costs us almost nothing — which is why it is £19.99 a month rather than a retainer.
What you get
How it works
01
£19.99 a month through our secure Stripe checkout. Cancel any time from the link on your invoice — no minimum term and no notice period.
02
We ask for it as you sign up. Then we need a WordPress login — if you've never made one, we'll send you the two-line instruction, or ask your host or designer on your behalf.
03
Copy of your site first, updates there, checked, then the same on your live site behind a fresh backup. After that we keep it current on a regular cycle — and any time you ask us to.
04
That is the point of it. If something needs more than an update we tell you at the time, with what it would cost — never a surprise at renewal.
Common questions
No. This works on any WordPress site, wherever it lives — us, SiteGround, GoDaddy, 123-reg, a web designer who has since moved on. We need a WordPress login, not your hosting account. If you don't have a login we'll tell you exactly what to ask your host or developer for.
We find out before you do, because the updates go onto a copy of your site first and a person looks at the result. If something breaks there, it never reaches your live site — we tell you which plugin caused it and what the options are. And a backup is taken immediately before every live update run, so there is always a way back.
Some hosts auto-update WordPress itself, and that is worth having. Almost none update your theme and your plugins, and none of them open your site afterwards to check the contact form still sends. The gap between "the update installed" and "the site still works" is the whole job.
Any time, from the link on your invoice. No minimum term, no notice period, no exit fee. You keep your site and everything on it — there is nothing to untangle.
Buy it once per site — £19.99 a month each — or get in touch and we'll quote the set. If you look after sites for other people, say so when you sign up; we work with a handful of designers and agencies that way.
Roughly once a month. Straight away if something serious comes up — and any time you need the site current for a job of your own: a plugin that will not install on an old version, a developer who wants everything up to date before they start, something that has to be working by Friday. No fixed day to wait for, no limit on asking. If you want a run done today, say so and we do it today.
Yes, whenever you like, and it is part of what you already pay for. Adding something new, handing the site to a developer, read about a problem with a plugin you use, or you just want everything current before a busy week — ask, and we run it.
A short email after every run: what was updated, what we checked afterwards, and anything we think you should know about. Two minutes to read. No dashboard to log into and no report you have to interpret.
